This Will Become Your New Jam: Sweet and Salty Maple Bacon and Onion Jam

This is my absolute favorite way to cook up bacon jam and it will become yours too. It is sweet, salty and delicious.

I have been using this bacon jam for years and have yet to set my sights on crafting up a new bacon jam recipe. So let me tell you why this is a winner and why it’ll become your new jam—my Sweet and Salty Maple Bacon and Onion Jam.

Sweet Maple Bacon and Onion Jam

As I said above, it’s a perfect balance of both sweet and salty which is always a plus. First, there is the saltiness of the crispy delicious bacon and with only a minimal amount of added salt. However, for hypertensive people who have to monitor their sodium levels, I would recommend low sodium and center-cut bacon instead or skipping the salt altogether.

The sweetness in this bacon jam comes from the following ingredients—maple syrup, honey, strawberry jam or fruit spread, and the balsamic vinegar which is both fruity and a little salty.

I have used this bacon jam to top on cute little pastry boats of my own homemade pastry dough (that recipe also available here on website) and more recently my Bacon Jam and Cream Cheese Pastry Wraps or simply spread it on toast or a chewy bagel if you want to skip turning on the oven. Whichever you decide, just GET YOUR BACON JAM ON! 💃🏽
