What To Do With To Much Turmeric? Try My Rustic Turmeric Spiced Cookies

Jump to Recipe

This fall I found myself totally stocked up on lots of this healthy and nice spice–turmeric. Where did this overabundance come from? I believe it was during a holiday special for only $1and next when my brother purchased a BOGO.

Needless to say, I decided to come up with both savory and sweet recipes to incorporate this medicinal herb ground into a culinary spice and that is where these “Rustic Turmeric Spiced Cookies” come in. However, first a brief sidenote on the health benefits of turmeric.

Turmeric is a popular herb used in India for over a millennium. One of the most widely known benefits of it is that it has anti-inflammatory properties and being a potent antioxidant, it can help fight off free radicals which are known to cause cancer as it also has another powerful compound known as curcumin which gives it its yellowish-orange color.

So my turmeric spiced cookies have a rich orange color as well, and despite their overall rustic appearance, they’re super flavorful. They are keto-friendly and low carb because of the nut flours and sugar free sweeteners used in this recipe. For this reason, I do recommend refrigeration to firm up after allowing them to cool.
