Can Grilled Brie Cheese Sandwiches Give Cheddar A Run For It’s Money?

Jump to Recipe

I sure have made my share of grilled cheese sandwiches, past, present and in the foreseeable future, and oftentimes using my all-time fave Mister Cheddar itself.

Of course, everything have had its own special place for me—such as cheddar, white or yellow, for grilled cheese sandwiches, and mozzarella on my pizza and pastas. However, I have and am continuing to learn as a novice chef to diversify, and to think outside of the kitchen box.

I have done just that and there is a new favorite cheese that my palate has been delighting in. You’ve probably noticed from my last few posts, that Brie is now my cheesy new girl friend, and I figured why not test her out on a grilled cheese sandwich.

So after trying Brie as a grilled cheese sandwich, and though buttery, soft and delicious, it’s still not the champion here, at least in my opinion and for two primary reasons.

First of all, I love the strong and sharp taste of cheddar on my grilled sandwiches. Secondly, Brie being an imported cheese from France, can’t give cheddar a run for its money in terms of taste in this one particular instance, but certainly can in terms of cost as Brie is much pricier, while cheddar is definitely much more affordable.

So for these primary reasons, CHEDDAR remains king of the “grilled cheese sandwiches.”👑 Nevertheless, there’s still a place for Brie in my fridge as there are many more recipes to come with her in them. 😉
