Super Simple Keto Almond Flour Pizza Crust: Balsamic Chicken Marinara Pizza

I have no doubt that this is not the only keto-friendly or low carb pizza crust recipe that you have come across, because I myself have been privy to many especially with my new lifestyle changes— being sugar free, and now embracing a low carb and keto diet. In fact, I have even given a few of those recipes a try and was inspired to come up with my own ‘super simple’ keto pizza dough recipe too. So, in this short post, here is my FIRST as undoubtedly there is bound to be several more springing forth from my own personal test kitchen, because it’s what I do.

The dough came together beautifully, and I didn’t even have to use a rolling pin —only my hands to press and stretch the dough out—though you can still do so if you prefer, between 2 parchment sheets to make it easier. Also, for this almond flour pizza dough, I used only 3 ingredients. However, 4 if you want to count the water, and 9 if you count the four spices or seasonings, I used to flavor the dough for my Balsamic Chicken Marinara Pizza here.

For this recipe, it was my desire to use either a white pizza sauce, Alfredo sauce, or garlic bechamel sauce (for my Balsamic Chicken Alfredo Pizza) as that is usually my personal preference when ordering out or preparing my own home cooked chicken pizza. However, this particular pizza craving came immediately after work and my dinner menu was spur of the moment and minus a grocery store visit, so store bought marinara sauce to the rescue. Even still my balsamic flavored chicken with the marinara (pictured below) was very delicious and oh so satisfying! So be sure to give one or both of them a try and see which one you like more. 😉

  • 3/4 cup Almond Flour
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese shredded and melted
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese grated
  • 1/4 cup Warm Water Add 1 tablespoon at a time and more if needed.

Seasonings for the pizza dough

  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder granulated
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Dried Parsley
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper

For Balsamic Chicken Marinara Pizza

  • 1 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 Grilled Chicken Breast, cooked; diced or shredded
  • 1/4 cup Marinara Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

Instructions

  1. Microwave mozzarella cheese for 30 seconds, stirring halfway through.

  2. Add in the almond flour and microwave for an additional 30 seconds.

  3. Continue stirring the cheese and flour mixture while adding the parmesan cheese, garlic and other seasonings. (Reheat for an additional 15 seconds if cheese and flour mix stiffens),

  4. Add one tablespoon of warm water at a time, stirring to combine all of the ingredients until a ball of dough forms and come together.

  5. Stretch out the dough by hand or with a rolling pin into a pizza round.

  6. Bake in a preheated oven, at 450 degrees, on a baking sheet or pizza stone for 10 minutes.

  7. Carefully remove from heat and add your pizza toppings (Note: I kept it simple and used balsamic glazed chicken pieces, marinara, and mozzarella cheese).

Recipe Notes

This recipe is for a single personal sized pizza. However, you can double the ingredients as well as the amount of water if you want to make a much larger medium crusted pizza. Also, an egg can be used instead of water, if preferred, to bind the ingredients together.

Whenever possible, use organic ingredients.
