Sloppy Turkey Joe Sandwiches

Turkey in home-made tomato sauce and not Beef is the STAR in this particular sandwich recipe. It's healthier and just as good too!

Ingredients

  • 1 pd Ground Turkey
  • 2 heaping tbsp Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp Adobo spice seasoning
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 cup Onions chopped
  • 1/4 cup Red Pepper diced
  • 1 Garlic Clove minced
  • 1 cup Tomato Ketchup (or sauce) organic
  • 3 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Beef Broth organic
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp Culantro (or Cilantro), optional chopped

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, season the ground turkey with the sugar and spices above. 

  2. Add 2 tablespoons of good olive oil to a pan and cook meat till browned. Drain any oil if needed from pan. 

  3. Add onions and red peppers to cooked ground turkey. Cook for a couple minutes to allow flavors to mesh together.

  4. Next add in the ketchup (or tomato sauce), Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth with one tablespoon of cornstarch already added to it. 

  5. Cook on medium heat for 10 minutes, before reducing heat and allowing sauce to simmer and thicken. Add chopped cilantro or cilantro.

  6. Serve on buns of choice and ENJOY!
