Easy, delicious and healthy beef stew chocked full of onions, chunky carrots and turnips in place of white potatoes.
Chop onion, carrots and turnip up and set aside.
Season beef stew with salt and pepper and any other seasonings of your choosing.
In a slow cooker or other pot, heat up oil. On medium high heat, partially brown the outside of the seasoned beef stew pieces. Remove from heat onto paper towels.
In the same pan, add a tablespoon of oil and saute onions, carrots and turnips for 3 to 5 minutes until just slightly tender.
Add the beef stew back into the pan with the veggies. Follow by adding in the beef stew seasoning pack, tomato sauce and beef broth.
Cook on medium high heat for 20 minutes. Reduce the heat and slow cook for an additional 40 minutes or until beef is fork tender.
