Hamburger Dogs? And Why Not?

Jump to Recipe

My Hamburger Dogs are simply a spin off to my last post, where burgers are rolled up nice and thin and served on hot dog buns to be enjoyed though outside of the norm—let’s just say it’s enjoying savory beef burgers using the best of both worlds and why not?

See for me being in the kitchen is therapy and coming up with fresh recipes, unique, or even bizarre ideas especially when they are good—though not always— and those that are somewhat rare is FUN. I think of the kitchen as my food laboratory where I can just enjoy creating—be it masterpieces or flops or adapting recipes to suit me and my lifestyle.

So, simply take ground beef (I use grass fed), just season it to taste, then roll it up very thin and long, about the size and length of the hot dog bun or hot dog itself as it will shrink considerably which is the normal tendency of beef.

Once you have your special hamburger dog browned you’re now ready to dress it up however you choose (e.g. mayo, mustard, ketchup, dill pickles or even relish …). All I ask is that you just embrace making and trying something new.

My own personal philosophy and plan is that I will never stop inventing, re-inventing or using my own God-given creative imagination and I hope you won’t either.
