This recipe is my lazy way of enjoying a tasty home-made pot pie (either beef or chicken) that will not only feed me, but my entire family. Its chocked with delicious fillings such as beef, pepperoni, artichokes, or if you prefer simply substitute your own. Plus, there is no need to make your own pie crust or pizza dough in this particular recipe either—I used store brought. So always remember when cooking it’s okay to take those much needed short-cuts to get the job done and without to much delay.
Beef and Artichoke Pizza Pot Pie
Super savory and super flavorful easy pizza pot pie filled with beef and artichokes or with ingredients of your own choice and baked in a ready made pie crust!
Ingredients
- 1 pound Ground Beef grass fed
- 1 24 ounce Marinara Sauce
- 1 cup Pepperoni chopped
- 1 12 oz. Artichoke Hearts organic, chopped
- 1 Red Onion diced
- 1 Green Pepper diced
- 1 can Pizza Dough for top crust and residual cut into pieces for dumplings
- 1 16 oz Mozzarella Cheese shredded
- 1 cup Parmesan Cheese grated
- 2 Deep Dish Pie Crusts
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil for sauteeing extra virgin
Instructions
-
Bake the ready made pie crusts in the oven until lightly golden at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. When done set aside.
-
In the meanwhile, season the ground beef with salt and pepper, before browning on stovetop. Drain off any fat and remove the meat from the pan.
-
Next, add oil to the same pan and saute the onions, peppers, and garlic until slightly tender.
-
Return the ground beef back to the pan with the artichokes, pepperoni, and marinara sauce.
-
Pour the meat sauce filling into both partially baked pie crusts.
-
Sprinkle the meat sauce with grated parmesan and mozzarella cheeses.
-
Next, roll out the pizza dough and cut into a large round circle. Cut the residual dough into small pieces and stir into the meat sauce to make dumplings (of course this part is optional).
-
Top the pie crust with the pizza dough, trimming any excess if necessary. Crimp the edges with a fork to seal.
-
Take a small paring knife and make vents or slits on the top. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until top crust is golden brown.
